The Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT) is administered to students in Grades 3-4 to identify candidates for gifted and talented programs. It tests cognitive reasoning abilities across three areas: verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning. The test is typically given once per year by schools as a group assessment.
While the CCAT tests cognitive abilities, preparation helps by familiarizing children with question formats, timing, and test-taking strategies. Many bright children underperform simply because they're unfamiliar with the unique question types.
